Bidar Government School Girl Farah Secured 6th rank in the State

Farah Mohammad Ayub, a student of Muttangi Government High School in the taluk, secured 620 out of 625 (99.2 per cent) marks in the current year’s SSLC examination and secured the 6th position in the state. She has achieved second place in the district.

She studied in a village’s government primary school till 6th standard, Jnanjyoti school from 7th to 8th, and Muttangi government high school from 9th to 10th, and she strongly desires to practice and write the UPSC exam after her graduation in science. Since she belongs to a poor family, it would be beneficial if the government subsidised her practice. Farah expressed her helplessness.

Farah has provided inspirational thought and demonstrated that talent is unaffected by the issue of poverty in villages, towns, and cities, achieving the top rank.

Her father, Mohammad Ayub, and mother, Begum, belong to a farming family. An older sister and two brothers are making a living by cultivating 2 acres of plain land.

 Farah’s father, Mohammad Ayub, expressed his happiness by conveying the message, ‘I am very happy that God gifted me Farah and has come to light the home. Further, he added, the government should support the practice of the daughter’s need for funding higher studies.

Her method of learning in the SSLC exam preparation was: ‘Watching YouTube lessons to understand clip lessons of science and mathematics subjects was very helpful. The teacher’s teaching in the school gives her a better understanding by listening with concentration. Work on writing answers to questions related to lessons at home right from the start. A student should have concentration and a precise aim to get good results. She used to practise the lessons daily for 7 hours. Solving math problems in the evening: Kannada, English, and science subjects.

GCC’s biggest online medical education platform ‘Healthvarsity’ launched in Dubai

Eight Bhatkal players part of Karnataka Football team that will play national beach championship in Gujarat

Bhatkal, KARNATAKA:

Eight players from Bhatkal will be part of the Karnataka beach football team that will take part in Hero Beach Soccer championship in Gujarat on January 26.

The tournament will be played in Surat city of Gujarat.

The team trials for team selection were held by Karnataka State Football Association at Hudmudi beach on the outskirts of Bhatkal in Coastal Karnataka.

Players from across the state gave trials for team selection and eight players from Bhatkal were selected in the team.

All eight players from Bhatkal player for BIFA team in Bhatkal.

Vidhana Parishad Speaker Basavaraja C.Horatti releasing Book on ‘Contribution of Muslims in Kannada literature’

Basavaraja C.Horatti, Hon’ble Speaker of Vidhana Parishad of Karnataka Government has released a new book in Kannada, Kannada Sahityadalli Muslim Samvedane which means ‘Contribution of Muslim Writers to Kannada Literature’.

The book was released at a colourful function at the  ‘Cochin Kannada Cultural Festival 2023’ which was  promoted by joint auspices of Kannada Sangha Cochin, Kasaragod District Kannada Journa lists Association, Karnataka Border Area Development Authority,  and Karnataka Working  Journalists Association.

Kannada speaking masses in Ernakulum and various parts of kerala and Karnataka attended the festival in large.   

The convention featured symposium, many cultural programs and a parade.

Karnataka 2nd PU result 2023: Commerce Topper Ananya K.A scores 600/600 & Arts Topper Tabassum Sheikh scores 593/600.

The results of the 2nd PU exams in Karnataka were announced on April 21.

The results of the 2nd PU exams in Karnataka were announced on April 21 by Ritish Kumar Singh, Principal Secretary in the Department of School Education and Literacy, and Ramachandran, Chairman of Karnataka School Examination and Assessment Board.

M. Mohan Alva, chairman, Alva’s Education Foundation, Moodbidri offering sweets to Ananya K.A., who topped the commerce stream in the second PU exams in Karnataka. The results were announced on April 21, 2023.

Ananya K.A. , commerce student, Alva’s PU college, Moodabidri is the topper in Karnataka scoring 600 marks out of 600. She hails from Kushalnagar in Kodagu district. She joined Alva’s PU College under the institution’s scholarship scheme

In the arts steam, Tabassum Sheikh, NMKRV PU College, Bengaluru is the topper with 593/600 marks.

S.M. Koushik from Gangothri PU college, Srinivaspura, Kolar district, and Surabhi S. from R.V. PU college, NMKRV campus, Bengaluru are the toppers in the science stream with 596 marks for 600.

How PU students performed as compared to last year

At 74.67%, the pass percentage in the II PU exams shot up by 12% from the previous year.

Of the 7,02,067 students who appeared for the exams, 5,24,209 have cleared them. A total of 4,79,746 (78.97%) regular students, 33,833 (48.42%) repeaters and 10,630 (43.02%) private candidates passed.

The pass percentage in the arts stream (1,34,876 students) was 61.22%, in commerce (1,82,246 students) was 75.89%, and in science (2,07,087 students) was 85.71%.

This year too, the pass percentage of girls is higher than boys — 2,82,602 girls (80.25%) passed against 2,41,607 (69.05%) boys. The performance of rural students was better than those in the urban areas — 1,19,860 (74.79%) rural students passed against 4,04,349 (74.63%) urban.

A total of 1,09,509 students got distinction (above 85%), 2,47,315 students got first class (60% to 85%), 90,014 students got second class (50% to 60%) and 77,371 students secured more than the minimum marks to pass (35% to 50%).

Karnataka Muslim Cultural Association’s election held, Saquib Raza Khan elected new President

The Karnataka Muslim Cultural Association (KMCA) held its annual general body meeting on April 8th, during which elections were conducted for the executive committee for 2023-24.

The program, held at MRA Restaurant in Doha, began with a recitation of the Holy Quran by Master Rehan Rashid.

Following the dissolution of the executive committee for 2022-23, Ahmed Saeed Assadi, the election commissioner, conducted the process of electing the new committee members.

The KMCA has announced that Saquib Raza Khan has been elected as the new president, while Suhaib Ahmed has been elected as the new vice president. Shahim Mohammed Sheikh is the new general secretary, Khaleel Ahmed is the new treasurer, Mohammed Yunus is the new joint secretary, Sayed Ashfaque is the new cultural secretary, and Shakeel Mohammad is the new sports secretary.

In his acceptance address, the newly elected president, Saquib Raza Khan from Mangaluru, put forth the future plans of the KMCA. He also stated that the other office-bearers would be elected soon during the first meeting of the new executive committee.

The outgoing president of KMCA, Fayaz Ahmed, welcomed the gathering, while outgoing general secretary Suhaib Ahmed presented the annual report of the events organized by the KMCA in the last year. Khaleel Ahmed presented the treasure report. Abdullah Moideen was the Master of Ceremony. 

The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks by Ahmed Saeed Assadi.

Following the elections, a quiz contest was held, and the top five winners were awarded prizes.

The KMCA also held an Annual Iftar for its members and heads of other organizations, which was attended by approximately 150 people.

Dignitaries from other associations and community leaders, including Hassan Chougle and Ikhlas Farid, ICC President Manikantan, and officials of the ICC, ICBF, and ISC Subramanian Hebbagilu and Deepak Shetty, graced the occasion.

Leaders of Karnataka-based organizations such as Mahesh Gowda, Ravi Shetty, Arun Kumar, Dr. Sanjay Kuduri, Abdul Razzak, Ibrahim Beary, Mumtaz Hussain, Abdul Rahiman Saab, and Abdullah Khatri were also present.

M Iqbal Manna reinstalled as President of the Giants Group of Udupi for 2023

M Manna Iqbal was on Monday reinstalled as the President of the Giants Group of Udupi for the year 2023, in a ceremony held at the Woodlands Hotel here in the city.

Dinkar K Amin, a Central Committee member of the Giants Welfare Foundation was present as the Chief Guest of the event while Vasudev Mahale, Unit Director of Federation 6 was the installation officer at the ceremony.

Former Federation President Jayarajprakash was the keynote speaker at the event while Dr. Junaida Sulthana, Academic Head, MET, Udyavara, Udupi, Tejeshwar Roa, Federation vice-president, and Lakshmikanth Beskoor, Federation coordinator were present as the guests of honor.

Four women – Dildar Akbar – Special Needs School, Udupi, Sushma Gopalkrishna – Police Inspector Udupi Women’s police station, Bindu Thankappan, Advocate, Shaila Amanna, Asha Nilaya, Udupi – were also felicitated for their outstanding services and selfless contribution towards the society.

The new committee of the Giants Group Udupi was also formed. Yashwant Salian and Vincent Saldana were appointed vice-presidents, Roshan Ballal. Director of Administration, Vadiraj, Joint Director of Administration, Ganesh Ural, Director of Finance, Dayanand Kalmady, Joint Director of Finance. Prabhakar Bangera, Liyaqath Ali, Vinay Kumar Poojary, Zeenath, Geetha Rao, and Diwakar Sanil took oath as Directors.

Roshan Ballal presented the annual report while Vivek Kamath proposed a vote of thanks and compered the event.

The event was followed by an Iftaar arrangement for the members and audience.

Dr. Aisha Nehla bags 5th rank in MS-ENT exam of RGUHS

Dr. Aisha Nehla has secured the 5th rank in the MS-ENT examination that was conducted by the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences in May 2022.

Dr. Nehla is the daughter of PS Abdul Khader Kanangar and Khatheejathul Kubra. She is married to Haseeb Abdul Hameed.

She has completed her post-graduation from AJ Institute of Medical Science in Mangaluru.

Padma Awards 2023: Renowned Craftsman Shah Rasheed Ahmed Quadri Conferred Padma Shri

President Droupadi Murmu on Wednesday, presented the Padma Shri award to renowned craftsman Shah Rasheed Ahmed Quadri for Art.

The master craftsman is engaged in the field of Bidri Ware handicrafts and is known for introducing the Phooljhadi design.

Quadri has invented many Bidri Ware articles and has trained hundreds of artists in the field.

Quadri has repeatedly raised concerns regarding Indian art due to the lack of marketing. He has also requested the government to provide an appropriate market and platform to artists so that they can create and develop their art

Notably, Quadri is among the eight personalities from Karnataka to receive the prestigious Padma award this year.

Who is Shah Rasheed Ahmed Quadri? 

Shah Rasheed Ahmed Quadri started learning this ancient art when he was just 10 years old against the wish of his father Shah Mustafa Quadri who was also a Bidriware craftsman. The 68-year-old artist is a third-generation artisan from his family. Apart from introducing the Phooljhadi design, Rasheed Quadri has also reintroduced sheet-work, which was popular during Bahmani empire.   

Before winning the Padma award, Quadri has already won the State Award in 1984, National Award in 1988, District Karnataka Rajyotsava Award in 1996, and The Great Indian Achievers’ Award in the year 2004.

The artisan has also exhibited and demonstrated the ‘Bidri’ craft across many countries, including USA, Netherlands, Spain, Bahrain and Oman.

Padma Awards are presented in three categories including Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Shri to honour people for their notable work in different disciplines and fields like art, social work, literature and education, public affairs, etc.

The Padma Shri is the fourth highest civil honour in India. While the Padma Shri is bestowed on those with distinguishing contributions in any field, the Padma Bhushan is granted to those who have had distinguishing contributions of a high order. The Padma Vibhushan is the highest of all and is awarded to those with exceptionally distinguished services. 

Bharat Ratna is considered to be the highest civilian award of country. Notably, the award has not been bestowed to any single person since 2019. The last Bharat Ratna was awarded to Nanaji Deshmukh (Posthumous), Bhupen Hazarika (Posthumous) and former President of India Pranab Mukherjee.

First of its kind, 3-day multilingual calligraphy exhibition, seminar in B’luru from March 10

A three-day multilingual calligraphy exhibition and seminar named Miraj will be held in Bangalore from March 10 to 12, 2023.

The event will be held at Falcon’s Den, Prestige Falcon Towers, Brunton Road here in the city.

The exhibition and seminar will be first of its kind in Bengaluru, Syed Beary, Chairman of Bearys Group said in a press conference at the Press Club on Wednesday.

The event sponsored by Bearys Group is being organised by Institute of Indo Islamic Art and Culture ( IIIAC), Syed Beary who is also the Chairman and Managing Trustee of IIIAC added.

“More than 50 artists and experts from across the world will take part in this unique event. Calligraphy is a special art. It helps in maintaining balance between your mind, body and your thoughts,” he further added.

“Calligraphy finds its origin in Arabic. But Chinese and Japanese modern calligraphy are also significantly beautiful and pleasing to eyes. Even Indian regional languages have now adopted calligraphy and artists are exhibiting their skills and talents in their respective regional languages,” Syed Beary further stated.

Speaking about the exhibition, he said experts and artists from more than 10 countries including Turkey, Japan, Sudan, and Middle-East will take part in the event. Calligraphy experts in Urdu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, Marathi and other regional languages will also be a part of the event.

“Seminars, Talks, and discussions on various aspects of calligraphy will also be held during this first of its kind three-day event,” he said.

Institute of Indo Islamic Art and Culture’s Principal Muqtar Ahmed  also spoke at the press conference and said the exhibition will be inaugurated on March 10 at 10:30 am by Irfan Razack, Chairman and Managing Director of Prestige Group, Bangalore. The seminar will be inaugurated later at 3 pm by Maulana Mufti Sageer Ahmed, Ameer-e-Shariyat, Karnataka, snf Principal & Shaikul Hadees, Darul Uloom Sabeelur Rashad.

Zia Ulla Sharief, Chairman India Builders Corporation, Bangalore, Irfan Razack, Chairman, MD Prestige Group Bangalore, Shabeena Sultana, Consul of the Republic of Tunisia, Bangalore and Pusphamala N, Artist, Sculptor, Writer and Curator will be guests of honor during the inaugural event that will be presided over by Syed Mohamed Beary, Muqtar Ahmed said.

He also spoke about how expert calligraphers of multiple languages will grace the event and share their thoughts and experiences with the participants.
