An important meeting was held in Daryaganj, New Delhi, under the chairmanship of Prof. Mushtaq Ahmad, National President of All India Unani Tibbi Congress (AIUTC). Prof. Mushtaq Ahmad reviewed the preparations for the upcoming World Unani Medicine Day to be observed on February 12. He stated that in 2010, upon their request, the then Secretary of AYUSH, Ms. Jilja (IAS), announced by consensus that the birth anniversary of Masih-ul-Mulk Hakim Ajmal Khan would be observed as Unani Medicine Day. The series of observances began on February 12, 2011. Today, he expressed great satisfaction that not only have people gained a better understanding of Masih-ul-Mulk Hakim Ajmal Khan, but there has also been widespread awareness about Unani medicine.
Dr. Syed Ahmad Khan, Secretary General of AIUTC, informed the meeting about the proposed World Unani Medicine Day celebration to be held in Lucknow on February 12, 2026. He stated that Dr. S.M. Ahsan Ejaz, President of the Uttar Pradesh unit of AIUTC, along with Prof. Nafasat Ali Ansari, National Secretary of the Academic Wing, and Dr. Shujauddin, Vice President of the Uttar Pradesh unit, have formed the reception committee and are efficiently carrying out all responsibilities.
It has been confirmed that Janab Danish Ansari, Minister for Minority Affairs, Government of Uttar Pradesh; Prof. Pradeep Kumar Prajapati, Director of All India Institute of Ayurveda, New Delhi; Prof. Mohammad Idris; Prof. S.M. Arif Zaidi; and Prof. Shabbir Ahmad Khan, among others, will participate in the event.
The meeting also decided that on the occasion of Unani Medicine Day on February 12, the Hakim Ajmal Khan Pharmacy Award will be conferred upon Dr. Hamid Siddiqui (Director, National Laboratories of India), Janab Qamar Ashraf (Director, Aon Herbal Remedies), and Janab Javed Ali (Director, Shahi Laboratories Pvt. Ltd.) for their outstanding contributions to the field of pharmacy.
Prominent participants in the meeting included Mohammad Naushad (National Coordinator), Hakim Arbabuddin, Dr. Uzair Bukhari, Dr. Zakiuddin, Dr. Mirza Asif Baig, Hakim Mohammad Murtaza Dehlvi, Dr. Khurshid Alam, Dr. Mahmood Alam, Dr. Javed Anwar, Dr. Syed Mansoor Jamal Kazmi, Shakeel Ahmad Meerthi, Dr. Mohammad Rafiq, Dr. Athar Mahmood, Dr. Ghiyasuddin, Dr. Shakeel Hapurvi, Dr. Faheem Malik, Dr. Faizan Ahmad Siddiqui, Dr. Ehsan Siddiqui, Dr. Farman Ali Siddiqui, Mohammad Owais Gorakhpuri, Israr Ahmad Ujjaini, and Mohammad Imran Kannauji.
