Dr. Zaki Ahmad Siddiqui Takes Charge of RRIUM, New Delhi

Senior Unani physician, researcher and administrator with nearly three decades of experience assumes new responsibility

New Delhi:

Following the retirement of Dr. Ziaul Haq Siddiqui, Dr. Zaki Ahmad Siddiqui has taken charge of the Regional Research Institute of Unani Medicine (RRIUM), New Delhi, under the Central Council for Research in Unani Medicine (CCRUM), Ministry of Ayush, Government of India.

All senior officers and staff of the institute, were present on the occasion. Dr. Zia’s long and dedicated services were acknowledged, while Dr. Zaki Ahmad Siddiqui was congratulated and extended best wishes on assuming his new responsibility.

Dr. Zaki Ahmad Siddiqui is a senior Unani physician, researcher and administrator with nearly three decades of experience in clinical research, drug standardisation, policy implementation and institutional administration in the AYUSH sector. He obtained his BUMS from A & U Tibbia College, University of Delhi, and MD (Moalijat) from Jamia Tibbia, Deoband.

Dr. Zaki began his professional career in 1996 as a Research Officer with CCRUM. During his nearly three decades of service, he has held various important responsibilities in research, clinical services, policy and administration. A significant part of his career, around 20 years, was spent at CCRUM Headquarters and the Ministry of AYUSH, where he handled important responsibilities relating to research, policy, administration and regulatory matters.

During his tenure in the Education Policy Section of the Ministry of AYUSH, he was associated with important policy and administrative matters concerning Ayurveda, Siddha and Unani medical colleges.

From 2020 to 2022, Dr. Siddiqui served as In-charge of the Drug Standardisation Research Unit (DSRU), CCRUM, New Delhi, where he contributed to strengthening research and activities related to the standardisation of Unani medicines.

From 2022 to 2025, he headed the Unani Medical Centre at Safdarjung Hospital, New Delhi, contributing to the delivery and strengthening of Unani clinical services in a major tertiary-care hospital.

In December 2025, Dr. Siddiqui was promoted to the post of Deputy Director and was entrusted with the responsibility of RRIUM, Mumbai. Subsequently, in April 2026, he was assigned the responsibility of Assistant Director, Hakim Ajmal Khan Institute for Literary & Historical Research in Unani Medicine (HAKILHRUM), New Delhi.

With his extensive experience in clinical care, research, drug standardisation and institutional administration, Dr. Siddiqui’s new responsibility at RRIUM, New Delhi is expected to further strengthen the institute’s research activities, Unani clinical services, drug standardisation and administrative functioning.

The All India Unani Tibbi Congress (AIUTC) Tamil Nadu has announced its reorganisation with the aim of making the organisation more active. Professor Mushtaq Ahmed expressed happiness while approving all the elected office-bearers of the AIUTC Tamil Nadu, and hoped that the current team would carry out its duties well, keeping in view the aims and objectives of the Tibbi Congress.

It may be noted that, apart from Dr. Raziuddin Ahmed as State President and Dr. S.K.L. Hamiduddin as General Secretary of the AIUTC Tamil Nadu, Dr. Rafiuddin was elected Vice President, Hakim Nasiruddin Ahmed as Provincial Convener, and Dr. Imtiaz Basha as Secretary.

From Treatment to Ethics: Three-Day Orientation at Government Tibbi College Hospital Starts Today

Government Tibbi College Hospital, Patna, will host a three-day special orientation workshop from February 16 to 18, 2026, for the trainee doctors of Batch 2020. The objective of this workshop is to practically acquaint incoming doctors with professional demands, medical laws, administrative principles, and ethical values to ensure they can fulfill their responsibilities effectively.

Under the vision of “A Glorious Past, A Bright Future,” the institution has designed this comprehensive training program.

On the first day, Dr. Mohammad Tanweer Alam will provide a detailed briefing on internship rules and regulations. Dr. Mohammad Razi Ahmad will highlight the importance of vital signs and correct examination methods, while Dr. Khesal Ahmad will explain X-ray diagnosis and study techniques in the ENT (Ear, Nose, and Throat) department.

This will be followed by a detailed discussion on modern diagnostic equipment and its effective use.The second and third days of the workshop will feature experts speaking on various medical topics. Dr. Mohammad Nizamuddin will provide guidance on the principles and rules of prescription writing. Dr. Shoeba Feroz Ahmad will share insights on prenatal and postnatal care, while Dr. Rizwan Ahmad will present practical tips on prenatal and postnatal emergency management. Dr. Raj Kumar Chandan will deliver a lecture on the practical use of anesthesia.

Dr. Amresh Kumar and Dr. Javed Ahmad will deliver a special address on the integration of Physiotherapy and Unani medicine in treating musculoskeletal and joint disorders.


To promote high ethical values alongside professional expertise, a special session on “Medical Ethics” will be conducted by Dr. Mohammad Nafees Iqbal.

On the final day, Dr. Aliya Parveen will hold a detailed discussion on clinical protocols related to infertility management.

The workshop will conclude with an inspiring address by Dr. Shailesh Kumar Pankaj, aimed at instilling new energy and professional commitment in the trainee doctors.


In his message, the Hospital Superintendent, Professor Dr. Shahnawaz Akhtar, stated that this workshop would prove to be a milestone for future doctors. He remarked that the institution’s goal is not merely to award degrees but to prepare physicians who are both technically skilled and ethically sound. He urged all interns to make the most of this opportunity and further refine their skills.

A meeting of the Pharmacy Wing of All India Unani Tibbi Congress (AIUTC), New Delhi, was held under the chairmanship of Hakim Arbabuddin (Sadar Dawakhana), at the clinic of Hakim Uzair Baqai in Daryaganj here.

Addressing the meeting, the Secretary General of All India Unani Tibbi Congress, Dr. Syed Ahmad Khan, emphasised that classical medicines should be used as much as possible in clinical practice. He also stressed that Unani pharmaceutical institutions must ensure that Urdu is printed on the packaging of medicines, as Urdu and Unani medicine are inseparable. He said that Urdu is the identity of Unani medicine and a matter of pride for India. He further stated that Urdu originated and flourished in India, and therefore there is a need to remain sensitive towards the language. He added that Unani medicine is in its best condition in India, and today India is the global leader in this field.

On the occasion, preparations for the World Unani Medicine Day programme scheduled to be held in Lucknow on February 12 were reviewed.

Prominent participants in the meeting included Dr. Zakiuddin, Dr. Shakeel Ahmad Meerathi, Dr. Ghiyasuddin Siddiqui, Dr. Mufti Javed Anwar, Dr. Mirza Asif Beg, Dr. Faheem Malik, Hakim Naeem Raza, Hakim Mohammad Murtaza Dehlvi, Israr Ahmad Ujjaini, and Mohammad Imran Qanooji, among others.

The vote of thanks was presented by Hakim Uzair Baqai, National General Secretary of the Pharmacy Wing of the All India Unani Tibbi Congress.
